Job description We are offering several exciting opportunities for Ecologists to expand their skills and experience by joining our Ecology team. Successful applicants will be based in either of our Cambridge, Glasgow or Birmingham
offices.
The roles will initially be for 6 months in duration.
The roles will generally be to:
To provide technical support to other members of staff
To liaise with other ecologists throughout the company to provide a consistent and integrated service to clients
To continue to develop technical skills.
The majority of work is likely to be regional, but there will be technical collaboration and networking, with the 60 or so ecologists working within the company around the U.K. At all levels our ecologists are committed to providing specialist advice, protected species assessment, habitat management in connection with infrastructure projects, site restoration and rehabilitation, specialist services for planning applications and environmental impact assessments. We also provide an expert witness service in support of public enquiries, appeals and tribunals.
Responsibilities
Providing support to existing teams
Production of reports
Undertaking field surveys and nature conservation assessments
Work effectively as a team player in delivering a first class service to our clients, both internal and external
Management of own time and workload in collaboration with other team members
Development of technical and other skills, paying attention to CPD requirements

Skills and Qualifications We are currently looking for applicants with various levels of experience. Successful applicants will be offered positions commensurate with this. Level of experience is determined as follows:
Grade 8 applicants
A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Some experience of ecological survey work would be an advantage, together with evidence of a keen interest in ecology and nature conservation
Grade 9 applicants
Appropriate level of professional experience as an Ecologist, with technical and managerial experience
An understanding of the role of consultants within the commercial sector
Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species survey capability
Experience of designing and implementing simple ecological mitigation schemes
Experience in writing technical reports
A survey licence for one or more protected species would be beneficial
Grade 10 applicants
An appropriate level experience of as an Ecologist, with considerable technical and managerial experience
A thorough understanding of the role of consultants within the commercial sector and have the vision and ability to identify and expand new areas of business for their ecology team
Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species survey capability, ideally with an area of specialism
A survey licence for one or more protected species would be beneficial
Capability and experience of producing and implementing protected species development licence applications
Experience of EIA preferred and capability and experience of designing and implementing large scale ecological mitigation schemes
Experience in writing technical reports and proposals
In addition, all applicants will be able to demonstrate the following interpersonal skills:
